What is EDP?
EDP (External Diploma Program) is a nationally recognized alternate way for adults to earn a High School Diploma. High School level skills include: Writing, speaking, computation, problem solving, reading, critical thinking and entry-level job skills.
EDP is not an instructional program. EDP assesses and gives credit for the candidate’s knowledge and skills.
EDP takes an average of 6 months to complete. Candidate’s skill levels and time constraints determine how quickly the program is completed.
Who is EDP for?
EDP is for anyone who:
Ø Does not have a High School Diploma
Ø Is 21 years of age or older.
Ø Performs at an 8.0 grade level or better in math or reading.
Ø Is mature and self-disciplined.
Ø Is a self-starter and has the ability to work alone.
Ø Has access to a library and other community resources.
Ø Is able to keep appointments on time.
Ø Has good problem-solving skills.
Ø Has a skill that can be verified by employer, instructor, or performance.
How the Program Works:
Step 1:National EDP reading, math and writing diagnostics.
Step 2: Assessment and demonstration of academic skills.
Step 3: Demonstration of employable skills.
Step 4: Granting of Diploma!!
When does EDP Start?
The program runs year round. Candidates are accepted at any time.
Where is EDP Available?
EDP Advisors are available in Canandaigua, Williamson, and other areas by appointment.
